A little preparation makes a trip more comfortable. Each trip listing gives the details for that outing, and this page covers what is true of most of them. Tap any item to open it.
Before you go
1
How long it takes
▼
Most trips run a couple of hours, usually on a weekday morning. The trip listing gives the start and end times.
2
Walking and stairs
▼
Tours of plants, factories, and museums often mean walking on hard floors or uneven ground, and sometimes stairs. Each trip listing says how much walking to expect, for example easy walking or some walking.
3
Mobility questions
▼
If you use a cane or walker, or have any concern about the walking, ask the activity leader before you sign up. He can find out what the site allows.
You are welcome to ask. It is much easier to plan ahead than to find out on the day.
4
What to wear
▼
Comfortable closed-toe walking shoes, layers you can add or remove, and a hat and sunscreen for outdoor sites. Some sites provide hard hats and safety vests.
5
What to bring
▼
Water, your phone, and a camera if you like. Some sites ask to see photo ID, and the trip listing will say if yours is needed.
6
Photos
▼
Some sites allow photos and some do not. Ask your guide before you start taking pictures.
7
Meals
▼
Lunch is only included when the trip listing says so. Otherwise plan to eat before or after.
